Tattersalls Select Yearling Sale Wound Up With Huge Gains

Lexington, KY — Buoyed by Walnut Hall Ltd.’s spectacular Saturday night session, Tattersalls Select Yearling Sale wound up with huge gains for 2002. A total of 487 yearlings averaged $38,240 and totaled $18,622,900. In 2001, 554 yearlings averaged $31,240 and grossed $17,351,400.

"2002 was a different market place than a year ago," said David Reid, director of operations for Tattersalls, referring to the tragedy of September 11, 2001. "Also, we sold a better group of yearlings this year and we sold few horses. The crowds were terrific and there was a lot of energy in the arena."
