Tattersalls to hold January Select
Mixed Sale at the Big M
East Rutherford, NJ -
A stellar group of racehorses, broodmares, yearlings and
stallion shares will be offered at the January Select Mixed Sale
at the Meadowlands on Monday, January 20. The sale, which starts
at noon in the paddock, marks the first time Tattersalls has
conducted a sale outside its home base at The Red Mile.
Top shelf racehorses are the stars of the event, with 50 of
those cataloged having more than $100,000 in earnings on their
cards already. There are also plenty of lightly-raced horses,
half and five-eighth mile track specialists and horses eligible
to rich state-bred programs among those offered.
"The Meadowlands sale has long been recognized as the sale for
top racehorses," said Tattersalls General Manager Geoffrey
Stein. "We're delighted with the depth of the catalog, and to
have 50 horses with earnings over $100,000 is unprecedented.
Buyers looking for horses for the smaller tracks will have
plenty to chose from as well - we have a wide variety of horses
available.
"This is a great time of year to buy or sell a horse," he said.
"If you're selling, a horse that's racing or ready to race will
bring top dollar. With all the winter stakes at the Meadowlands,
and the healthy purses at tracks in Canada and Delaware, demand
is really, really high for the top-level horse. If you're
looking to buy, you know you can find a horse in any price range
that you can take home and drop right in the entry box. There's
something for everyone at this sale."
Some of the top sophomore pacing colts and geldings of 2002 are
among the offerings, including stakes winners Ashlee's Big Guy,
