Trotting filly Sir Dream tops July
Mixed sale at the Big M
East Rutherford, NJ -
Sir Dream, a three-year-old Sir Taurus full sister to $536,236
earner Taurus Dream, topped the Tattersalls July Mixed Sale at
the Meadowlands on Sunday, July 13, when she was hammered down
for $190,000 to Blue Chip Bloodstock of Wallkill, New York. Sir
Dream, who won six of her seven starts at two, was consigned by
Preferred Equine as agent. Prior to the sale, she won her two
most recent starts in New York Sires Stake action, including the
latest in a lifetime best 1:57.1 at Vernon Downs, while
increasing her career earnings to $181,682.
The July Mixed Sale, held in the Meadowlands paddock the day
after the Meadowlands Pace, featured racehorses of all ages. A
total of 97 sold for an average of $13,963 and a gross of
$1,354,000.
"We were extremely pleased with the sale overall," said David
Reid, who is Director of Operations of Tattersalls Sales and
Vice President of Preferred Equine. "We had a nice 20 horse
supplement on top of a solid catalog. Over 75 percent of the
horses cataloged had raced in the two weeks prior to the sale,
so buyers had plenty to choose from that were ready to drop in
the box. Bidding was enthusiastic from start to finish."
Myron Bell, acting as agent, went to $62,000 to acquire freshman
trotter Beissinger Hanover. The two-year-old colt, consigned by
Northwood Bloodstock Agency, is from the first crop by
Hambletonian winner Self Possessed and out of the brilliant
World Champion Beat The Wheel [1:51.4].
Gold Fever, a four-year-old gelded son of Artsplace, brought
$52,000 from Mark Ford of Slate Hill, New York. Gold Fever has
been racing in Canada and took his mark of 1:51.1 at Woodbine.
Seven-year-old Rapid Jate, with a new mark of 1:50 and earnings
nearing $350,000, was hammered down for $50,000 to Kevin Lare of
Viola, Delaware.
Tattersalls' next event is the Select Yearling Sale, which will
be held at the Red Mile during the Grand Circuit meet, Tuesday,
September 23 through Saturday, September 27 [dark Friday,
September 26]. The next two Tattersalls sales scheduled for the
Meadowlands are the inaugural Yearling Sale, to be held on
Columbus Day, Monday, October 13, and the January Select Mixed,
slated for Monday, January 19, 2004
