Tattersalls, Meadowlands Yearling Sales
Catalogs now available
Lexington, KY -
The Tattersalls Sales Company will present two yearling sales in
two different markets in upcoming weeks, and catalogs are now
available for both events. Catalog pages are also accessible on
the web at
www.tattersallsredmile.com.
The annual Tattersalls Select Yearling Sale will be conducted
during the Red Mile's Grand Circuit Meet in Lexington from
Tuesday, September 23 through Saturday, September 27 [dark on
Friday, September 26]. The inaugural Meadowlands Yearling Sale
will be held in the paddock at the Meadowlands Racetrack in East
Rutherford, New Jersey, on Columbus Day, Monday, October 13.
"We have a very powerful book for the Tattersalls Sale, and this
year, our pacers are probably stronger than they've ever been,"
said Geoffrey Stein, general manager of Tattersalls.
"Traditionally, we've always been strong on trotters - this
year, we have equal strength among the pacers. This sale has
produced the last two winners of the Hambletonian, as well as
horses like Art Major and Pizza Dolce. There's a lot of glamour
here."
Among the pacing yearlings slated to sell in Lexington are 24 by
Western Hanover, 24 by Artsplace, and others by Artiscape,
Cambest, Life Sign, Cam's Card Shark and Camluck. First crop
sires Western Ideal [25 yearlings] and Dragon Again [10
youngsters] are also well represented.
On the trotting side are 16 yearlings by Conway Hall, 14 by Self
Possessed, 15 by Malabar Man, and 22 each by Muscles Yankee and
Striking Sahbra.
Among the standouts are a Western Hanover brother to Art Major;
a Donerail sister to Moni Maker; a Striking Sahbra sister to
Amigo Hall; and a Garland Lobell sister to Cameron Hall.
The Tattersalls Sale starts at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday
and Thursday, September 23, 24 and 25, and at 8 p.m. on
Saturday, September 27, when the entire evening consists of the
consignment from Walnut Hall Ltd. There is no sale session on
Friday, September 26.
The Meadowlands Yearling Sale on Columbus Day, October 13, marks
the first time that Tattersalls has conducted a yearling sale
away from its home base at Lexington. "We're very pleased with
the response to this inaugural sale," said Stein. "We have 194
yearlings cataloged, and it's a very well-balanced book. It's
the perfect time - right between Lexington and Harrisburg, and I
think it will become a fixture in this market."
The majority of the youngsters are eligible to the lucrative
sire stakes programs in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Among the pacing sires represented are Cam's Card Shark,
Artiscape, Western Ideal, The Panderosa, Artsplace and Real
Artist. On the trotting side, such standouts as Self Possessed,
Yankee Glide, Muscles Yankee, Donerail and Lindy Lane have
yearlings cataloged.
Among the top prospects are a Western Ideal sister to Sanabelle
Island; a Western Ideal sister to Animated Art; and a Mr. Vic
sister to Mr. Muscleman.
In addition to the on-line pedigree pages, catalogs are
available at many racetracks and training centers. They can also
be requested on-line at
www.tattersallsredmile.com.
